Goodbye 2008

You've been quite the *&$%^ but you've brought me people that I've come to respect a great deal. Thank you for everything, everyone...but I'm ready for 2009. Good riddance, I had the time of my (part-time) life.

FAILED.

Yet again.

Haha

Before the year ends, there's one more day I can be a little emo.

I give up looking for people. She doesn't like me, end of story. Everytime it's someone else, I would hope it was me. I'm just a fool for thinking I could ever get a chance with anyone. I even thought I could get with my ideal person. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

The weekend. [A phloge]

On Friday the 26th, my mom, dad, sister, grandpa x2, grandma x2, uncle x3, aunt x3, cousins x6, and I set off for the south to go to Disneyland. It was my cousins from Canada's first time ever going there, and they're less than 1 years old and 5. The first day that we got there, Friday, was basically a "go to some mall that is pretty rich" day. I brought the D40 and had some fun around with a fountain; people kept looking at me weird because the predominant race in that place was white, and I'm brown. I was walking around and was astounded when I saw an Apple store there. Funny thing was, I was thinking about buying an iPod with the Christmas money that I got the whole ride to L.A. I walked in there with my $250 and started to search. I didn't want to get an iTouch because everyone has one and it's overrated. I didn't want to get an iPod classic because it was too big and I already had one. So, I had to chose between one of the bright colored Nanos. After 10 minutes, I settled on the green one. I picked out a case as well and basically used up all of my money. Sad, but so worth it. After that we arrived at Anaheim and got to our hotel. We had a CPK dinner and then retired to our rooms.

Saturday, the 27th, was hell. There were way too many people in the park making it impossible to move and find fast-loading rides. The kid rides had 45 minute waits, Indiana Jones had a 85 minute wait the whole day, and Space Mountain had a 90 minute wait. I spent most of the day walking alone looking like an idiot just taking pictures of random things. Everyone and their mothers had Nikons and Canons out around their necks showcasing to the world that they're "hot," for having it. I left it in my case because I don't need another fucking crack on it. The day ended when I watched the firework show from Main St. by myself. You have no idea how lonely I felt; couples were holding each other looking up, others holding hands, the fake snow falling, the music that you'd see in romantic movies was playing, parents smiling with their kids, etc...it was embarassing standing there alone. I walked back to the hotel and just slept. I couldn't bare staying awake another minute on that day.

Sunday the 28th was a lot better. I went to Disneyland early as hell to get fast passes for Indiana Jones and Space Mountain before they ran out. I got them both for around 5 o'clock-6. I left the park and went to California Adventure. I must say, this day was so much more empty and less packed. There were no lines for the rides I got on first because they barely just opened the park. I got on the raft ride and got pretty wet. Next I went on California Screamin' and had a blast. I forgot the rush that roller coasters gave and I just indulged in it all. Next I met up with my family and went on the Twilight Zone's Tower of Terror. That ride got better from when I last went on it about 4 or 5 years ago. I had the most stupid face for the picture, so I had to buy it. After that, we all migrated to the Bug's Land place, and the first thing I saw were bumper cars. We all got on and thought it was going to be like normal bumper cars, but they went excruciantingly slow, so we got a little dissapointed. The last ride we did at California Adventure was Soaring Over California or whatever. This ride is pretty cool because when you pass by certain areas, they spray out fake smell of pine and citrus to make it seem like you're actually there. My grandpa really enjoyed this ride, and it was nice to see a smile on his face.
We went back to Disneyland just in time for Indiana Jones. To be quite honest, the ride is not worth the 60+ minute wait they said it was, but it was stil enjoyable. Then we arrived in Tomorrowland and got on Space Mountain. This ride was one of the best rides I got on. It's extremely trippy because everything is dark and it makes you feel like you're in space (duh). But not knowing where you are going to turn next is the best. I got off satisfied, then we went to watch Fantasmic. The show is pretty cool because they use water mist to make a screen for the projected movie. With loud explosions, fire, and dragons, I was able to take -some- pictures, sadly for shitty lighting, I couldn't accomplish much. We then went back to the hotel as one. My dad, uncle x2 and grandpa x2 decided to buy some rum and play poker. I played for a bit then got tired of them being drunk. I then talked to Marci and found out this new mystery person she likes. She didn't give me a name, but I kindof have an idea of who it is..and she's afraid he doesn't like her and other reasons, but I doubt he doesn't...I can tell.

Back to sleeping. My thumbs are bleeding. Bye.

2008

2008 is coming to a close. I'm completely ready to let it go and move on to a new year.

So much has happened.

From mostly heartbreaks and misunderstanding things, 2008 had its ups as well as downs.

The bads:

Everyone has bad times, but everyDAY was all bad. From a fucked over family to my newly introduced "you're on your own," newsflash given by my parents to me, it's kinda sad how bad things keep repeating. My camera broke and I still need to raise money to fix it, but my parents don't want me to get a job because they don't want me to not focus on school...I think I can balance it, but they don't think so. There were misunderstandings with a crush, and it spiraled into all kinds of different directions (at least it has been resolved and now we have a nice friendship). On the other hand, this new crush is complicated and I don't think I have enough confidence to go for it. Then again, I think to myself that I need to wait and know this person more. It's an easy task? Hardly. Will it be worth it? I hope so. Will it not go the way I want it to be? Probably not because that's how my life is.

The Goods:

Even though most of my life has been a black hole, there are many events, people, and family members that shoot me back up. I started the year by taking pictures for the school newspaper. After a while, I was asked to go on a photo-shoot for Marketplace Magazine. It made me feel great that I was chosen to take the pictures; now I can use them to my Academy of Art application. I have met sooooooooooooo many amazing people that I can consider my really close friend in such a short amount of time. One of them happens to be her, but I don't want to do anything just yet; whether it be confession or mutual attraction, patience is key. My uncle from Wisconsin and my family from Canada came home for the holidays and I have never laughed, cried, and remembered so hard in my life. They made the closing of the year memorable and easy for me to complete. I'm ready to move on and get my life straight.

The goals:

I haven't really paid much attention to my New Year's resolutions, but this year I have to. With 41 resolutions lined up and pinned to my wall, I believe that I need to take time for myself and not let the small things in life bring me so down. Along with the goals for the 2009 year, I took the time to write all of the memories, events, and hardships of 2008 and put them in a bottle. At 11:59, I'm going to go to my backyard and bury this bottle and leave it there until it's dug out and read; there is also a note for whoever discovers it.

All in all, this year has been good and bad. Focused and unfocused. But as the saying goes, "Life is like photography: you develop from the negatives."
